Governor's May 2008 Newsletter!

      Greetings Lions, Lioness, and Leos:

Just a friendly reminder to all club secretaries. When you receive this newsletter, your club officers' elections should be over. You now have until May 15, to fill out your PU-101 with the new officers for 2008 - 2009 and send one copy to Lions Clubs International and one copy to Vice District Governor Chuck Belesky. Come and join the fun on May 10, from 9:00AM 'til 3:00PM at Bear Lake Camp. A lunch will be provided at the camp during this annual joint (11-D1 and 11-D2 ) clean-up/fix-up day at the camp. Many talents are needed so come and join the group and contribute your time and manpower. Please call PDG Terry Bowerman if you are scheduling an appearance for a count for lunch.

Also coming up at the camp on June  7th and 8th, is an opportunity  to tour the camp, try some of the  activities,  stay over night and  see what the camp is all about. Bring your bedding - sleeping bag  -  pillow  -  towels  and toiletries.  Check in time is 10:00 'til 11:00  AM Saturday June 7th. Check-out after breakfast Sunday June 8th, 2008. Lunch and dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday and overnight accommodations all for $40.00 per person. Deadline to register is May 25, 2008. Send your registration and checks made out to Lions Bear Lake Camp to PDG Nancy Lampman, 1168 Porter Dr. Charlotte MI 48813-3101

All presidents and secretaries have been notified of  the new reporting requirements for the membership reports as of the end of April. If you are not familiar with the new rules, please call me, the VDG, or your Region or Zone Chairs. The initial transition may be a bit difficult, but like all changes, we will get used to it. The end result will be that more accurate membership information will be available to every one instead of lagging a month behind.

Please Note:

The attached document (please click on the link) recaps a program presented by PDG Paul Hemeryck, Treasurer of the Lions of Michigan. The synopsis is a "must read" for all club presidents, secretaries and treasurers. You may be amazed at the new rules and your responsibilities there under.

     Yours In Lionism

Vice District Governor’s Comments

A BIG thank you to everyone that was at our District Convention on April 4th, 5th, & 6th. At Okemos. As you probably have heard, I did get elected to be the new District Governor for our district. For those of you who missed out and did not attend the convention this year, all I can say is that you missed a great party and great fellowship with all of the Lions that did attend. The Sat. night hospitality rooms were great. I want to thank the Emmett Lions (my home club) for all of the help and support they have giving to me over the past 4 years and the support they are still giving to me.

My Cabinet Secretary-Treasurer will be Lion John Cowan from the Emmett Lions.
The Vice District Governor Elect is Lion Bob Ryan from the Port Sanilac Lions.
