DISTRICT 11-D2
Districy Governor Chuck Belesky and his wife Nancy
Gov&Lady
Governor (CHB) August Newsletter!

First Lady Nancy and I made it back safe and sound from Bangkok Thailand. We had a great trip and meet a lot of great Lions from all parts of the world. The first week was quite busy as we had four full days of classes at the training center. Then it was off to the big city of Bangkok and the 91st International Lion Convention. Our new International President is Al Brandel. The ballot proposal to establish the position of 2nd Vice District Governor was approved. It will take effect in July of 2009, which means that each district will have to elect. A 1st and a 2nd Vice District Governor during their convention next spring. When I learn more about how this will affect the District Governors job and the responsibilities of the two Vice District Governors I will pass it along to you.

Lion Pat Bowerman from the Imlay City Lions now has Little Leo. Which club will be the first one to go and get him? Let’s go and get him. Do not make him sit and wait for a long time again. SEE LION PAT’S ARTICLE IN THIS NEWSLETTER. Remember that the club that visits the most other clubs will get an award at the end of the year.

By this time every club has received their Convention Raffle Tickets and a letter that explains how the raffle works. PLEASE put someone from your club in charge of the tickets so we can try to get them all sold this year. The Ubly Lions were the first club this year to have all of their tickets sold and the stubs returned to me. GREAT JOB UBLY LIONS. As of today six Clubs have sold all of their tickets.

I have started to make club visits, so if you have a special date in mind that you would like to have me at please let me know as soon as possible.

Remember that "Membership begins with ME"... and you too

     Yours In Lionism

Vice District Governor’s Comments

After having to make several changes because of unforeseen problems, Wednesday August 13 will be Region 3 Club Officer Training at 7:00 in Ubly. PDG Pete Lapka has put together a great program for this training with lots of new information. I recommend that all club officers in Region 3 attend this training and of course those from other regions are always welcome to attend as well. If your club has any upcoming events and you want me to help spread the word get the flyers or e-mails to me and I'll help to promote your event and try to attend.

Yours in Lionism

VDG Bob R.

District 11-D2 Mints for the Military

To:  All Lions Club Presidents, 2008-2009

Our District Governor, Lion Chuck Belesky, wishes to continue with the Mints for the Military Program, which P.D.G. Pete Lapka started 2 years ago. The Program is that, each Club in our District donates one or more cases of mints to be sent to our Troops in the Asian countries in time for Christmas. In order for this to happen, I need your Club to place your order by Oct. 15, 2008. This allows a week for the mints to be delivered to the Governor. Each case sent will have the mailing address of the club that sent it. So, please, let’s all participate in this very worthwhile program, and make our District 100%. Once again the more we are, the more we can do.
